I am embarrassed to see that it has been 3 full months since I last blogged. I wonder if anyone even looks at this anymore since it has been so sporadic lately. Well not even sporadic, just non-existent.
In three months, we have done a lot. May consisted of Jathan traveling to Indiana for a conference, meanwhile the kids and I decided that while he was gone for the week we would have a "Tour de California". We packed up our camping gear and headed to the coast with our friends the Tylers, then came back for a day to do laundary and repack for a train excursion up to Sacramento with my friend Desiree and her two boys. Lots of fun, but we were very thankful for the whole family to be back home in the state together once again. June had us traveling out to the midwest. We flew to Indy, celebrated my grandma's 90th birthday, then got in a car and drove west Branson, MO for the week. It was great spending time with Jathan's parents, sister and her family, my mom and sister and my grandma. Finally after a week of Branson, we got back in the car, drove east to Indianapolis, got on a plane the next day and flew further east to North Carolina, then on another flight to go west completely across the country to LA. Very tiring I must say and not the most efficient way to travel, but atleast we didn't have to drive the 2300 miles from IN to CA! The kids thought it was pretty cool with the time change that when we got to LA after a full day of travel, it was still morning. A three hour difference in time and a 5:30 am flight makes for a very long, never ending day! But we got home safely. After a week of rest, or rather prep for the following week, our church had our 2nd annual VBS. It was great. We had it in a town next to ours. Lots of kids from the community came and heard about the Good News of Jesus Christ. We are praying that God will produce growth from the seed that was planted. Paige started baseball in June also, which she is still doing and loving it. July my sister came out and we enjoyed our neighbors pool most everyday that she was here. They were out of town and asked us to look over the house. And they said to use the pool. I can do that! The kids had swim lessons for two weeks which greatly improved their water skills, so I am happy about that. This week we journied up to Lake Tahoe with another couple from our church. Our first time there and I have to say it is the most beautiful lake I have every seen! The water looks like water you would see in the Caribbean. So beautiful, God truly is amazing! So that brings us up to now. I am sure there are many details I left out, but I really don't want to bore you with them.
Besides galavanting around the state and country we have been prayerfully figuring out what to do about our adoption. Nothing has happened and it honestly doesn't seem like anything is going to happen. We met with our social worker last month and looks like we are going to try to go a different route. This time through the county's foster system. This means that we will be starting all over, refingerprinted, classes again, physicals again, home inspection again, and paperwork, more and more paperwork, ugh! But we are spinning our wheels now and because of various reasons, our social worker isn't seeing things changing for the better for us. I am not emotionally ready to start the new process. It is so exhausting. We are about to add on to our house (as soon as we get our permit) and I know that will not go well with a house inspection and I don't think mentally I can handle all of it at once. So we are staying put with our current agency not really expecting anything (although we know that God can do anything!). And begin the new process once the addition is more underway.
So in a nut shell that is our story for the last 3 months.

Into The Wild
Last week we went on an overnight camping trip with some of our friends. We had a great time despite a few mishaps, like Clay burning his finger. Clay is fine, although at first it didn’t look too good. I can’t say that we slept the best, it was our first camping adventure with the kids, but I think that we learned some sleeping arrangement lessons and are geared up to try it again.
It was a good time though. So nice to spend time with dear friends and be in God’s beautiful creation. I loved hearing all of the sounds of birds and little critters when I woke up in the morning and seeing the stars in full brightness at night. The sky was so black with no other light competing with the stars.
It was my first time camping in an active bear area.Thankfully in the National Parks they have a lot of signs telling you what to do and what not to do. And, thankfully they provided the bear boxes to put all of your food and toiletries in. I didn’t want to wake up to a bear tearing into our vehicle or worse yet, our tent!
Below are a few pictures from our excursion.
The bear warning sign, trust me I followed all the rules!
The sleeping accomodations
I love roasting marshmellows over a fire. I just love a camp fire in general!
Our friends brought their 4 dogs. The kids all loved taking turns holding the leashes on the walks.
Dameon popping Jiffy Pop popcorn.Don’t worry, he is a fireman.
The kids playing a card game in our friends fifth wheel.

Take Me Out To The Ballgame
Friday night, we went with some friends to our town’s single A baseball team’s second game in their newly redone stadium. (ok, that was a really long sentence)The kids had a great time with their friends.Paige was really into the game and Clay was really into the food. Drew liked watching the people but later fell asleep on Jathan’s lap. Paige took her baseball mitt and anxiously watched every pitch hoping that the batter would hit the ball her direction. Never once did one come anywhere close to us, but that is ok, she still enjoyed trying. On the way to the game she wanted me to tell her the story of when Papa (my dad) caught a ball at an Indianapolis Indians game. Here is the story:
I am not sure how old I was, I remember it well, but I wasn’t awfully old. All four of us (Mom, Dad, Mandy and I) were going to the game. I had my baseball mitt ready and asked Dad to bring his. He said he didn’t want to mess with it.I begged and even said I would carry it, so he finally relented and took the mitt. At the game my Dad and Mom sat with my sister and I between them. My sister was next to Dad and I was next to Mom. Suddenly the batter hit a foul ball (let me add that it was hit very hard) right towards us. What did I do?I froze with my mitt on my hand sitting in my lap. I saw it coming but couldn’t move, then in a second, my dad’s mitt reaches across my sister and catches the ball a few inches in front of my face. It hit his mitt hard!I am grateful that I was persistent that day.Dad said he didn’t know if he could have caught it without his mitt. If he hadn’t my face sure would look different!
Well our team won, making it a great game. The evening concluded with fireworks (and yes Drew was still fast asleep!). Drew did wake up when we got to the car.One of the other kids said something about the fireworks and Drew said “there weren’t any fireworks”I told them, maybe it would be best that he didn’t know what he missed right away.

Paige is now 7 years and 9 days old.I am a little late in wishing her a happy birthday on the blog.We did celebrate as a family, so I think that she will forgive me for not mentioning it sooner on here J .I look at pictures of her from when she was born to now and I cannot believe the beautiful young lady she is becoming. She is beautiful, in my opinion, on the outside, but even more on the inside. She has such a selfless, sweet spirit about her.Gentle, loving, kind.I am so thankful that God gave her to us.
Paige isn’t the easiest girl to describe. One minute you will find her with a football jersey and helmet on trying to get her brothers to play by the rules, other times you will see her organizing her nut collection (don’t ask J ), after that she will be curled up on the couch reading a book or playing with her polly pocket dolls.Paige loves sports, a lot.Any mention of a game, she will be all ears and want to know who is playing and what is going on.We joke that she will be a sports caster. She can tell you who made the play or who got the penalty called on them. She has beat both Jathan and I in the NCAA brackets two years in a row, kinda frustrating. And thanks to her grandma she has her own set of flags for football. But there definitely is a feminine side to Paige. She just got her ears pierced, she loves the lipstick shaped pen and lotion her babysitter got her for her birthday and is excited to get new earrings once she can change the starter set.Oh and now, she loves talking on the phone.Thankfully we have unlimited long distance for the one hour phone calls to grandma!
The first seven years have gone so fast, and I know that time flies even more as they get older, but I will treasure the time we have left with her under our care and be thankful for every moment of it.
I am the wife a wonderful husband whom I love with all of my heart. God has also given me the gift of 3 beautiful children to love and nurture. Two biologically and one by the wonderful gift of adoption. Drew was born in South Korea and came home to his "forever family" in October of '05. "omma" is Korean for mommy. So I am thankful to be the mommy of three.
